Friberg Associates Inc. is a long established MEP consulting engineering firm which has served all types of clients throughout the state of Texas for many years. We offer a long history of successful projects including design of plumbing, fire protection, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical systems and engineering studies for new and existing buildings.
The firm began in 1945 as Yandell, Cowan and Love Engineering Company, a name it retained until 1964 when it was incorporated. In the ensuing years the name has been changed on several occasions to reflect the departure of the founders and the emergence of the second generation of principals.
The firm has five (5) Principals, Emil E. Friberg, P.E., Bobby G. Alexander, Larry W. Akers, LEED Green Associate, David McDonald, P.E., Joshua Schmidt, P.E., who have combined experience of more than 196 years in the mechanical-electrical engineering profession, 166 of which have been with this firm.
The firm was one of the first to design air conditioning for a great many buildings that had not previously been air-conditioned. In the beginning a great many of these buildings were office buildings and retail establishments. In the 1960’s there was a surge of air conditioning design for public schools and colleges. In the 1970’s and into the 1980’s there was an emphasis in designing new energy conserving air conditioning and in retrofitting air conditioning systems for energy conservation purposes. The 1990’s and the first years of the new century have challenged the engineer to properly apply complex systems to achieve an energy conserving and environmentally sound design.
The firm has been a forerunner in adapting leading edge technology to the design process. The firm began using sophisticated word processing equipment in 1967 and began using computers for design and energy calculation in 1968. We continue to upgrade our CAD technology today.
Friberg Associates Inc. has served as the prime professional on numerous projects of this type during our 65 year history of service to clients both in the public and private sectors. We believe, that existing buildings which have a history of MEP infrastructure issues, using the engineers as the prime professional is a great benefit to the building owner. Since the building envelope is established, the MEP systems become more important to ensure that the building operates as energy efficient as possible and the building operational issues are addressed.
